Wednesday’s high school roundup/scores: St. Mary’s tops Tewksbury in double-overtime thriller

In nonleague action, Ava Nason netted her third goal to give St. Mary’s (Lynn) (1-1) an 8-7 double overtime girls lacrosse victory over Tewksbury. Cassidy Cheney (two goals), Vanessa Hall, Keira Twomey and Grace Hauch scored as well for the Spartans.

Grace Maroney scored five goals and Caroline Connolly finished with a hat trick as Hingham bested Quincy 13-1 in the Patriot League.

Avery Del Col (two goals, assist), Cece L’Esperance (two goals), Hannah Piche (two goals), Murray Finard (goal, four assists), Kyleigh Rabazzi (goal, three assists) and Molly Hazard (goal) scored for Rivers in a 9-6 Independent School League win over Brooks.

In a Cape Ann League matchup, Evie Bernard (six goals, one assist), Maisie Leland (three goals), Stewart Bernard (three goals), Avery Nistl (two goals), and Grace Glidden (one goal, one assist) took turns putting it in the net, pushing Hamilton-Wenham past Lynnfield, 15-7.

Hattie DiBattista (four goals, assist), Sophie Shone (two goals), Coco Hauck (two goals), Elsa Landry (goal, four assists) and Tess Ban Ogtrop (goal, 13-for-15 on draws) found the net for Thayer in a 10-8 Independent School League victory over Governor’s.

Boys lacrosse

Calvin Beard scored seven goals for St. Mark’s (3-0) in a 12-3 nonleague win over Worcester Academy.

Ipswich romped past Amesbury 18-1 in a CAL Baker Division game as Will Harrington and Charlie Elder netted four goals each, while Finn Wright and Luke Wile sent three shots into the back of the cage.

Joe Concannon (three goals), Connor McCarthy (two goals), Luke Tropeano (two goals) James Whitman (one goal), Finn Olsweski (one goal), and Domenic Visocchi (one goal) each found the net while David MacNeil (12 saves), Ryan Nash, and Ronan Cafferty had a large presence on defense for Whitman-Hanson to storm past Quincy/North Quincy, 11-4, in a Patriot League contest.

Boys volleyball

Mason Lee posted 16 digs on defense while Finn Bell and Joe Kelly each led the attack with 11 kills, powering Wayland (2-1) to a 3-0 nonleague win over North Quincy.

Drew Eason (13 kills) and James Levesque (12 kills) gave setter Shawn Laduke (38 assists) plenty to work with as Methuen (2-0) took down Chelmsford, 3-1, in Merrimack Valley Conference play. … David Castillo’s 18 kills and Joshua Joaquin’s 37 assists helped fuel Lawrence to a 3-2 win over Billerica.

In a nonleague matchup, Cody Fitzpatrick had 14 kills while Tyrell Lout had 33 assists to push Lowell past Westford Academy, 3-0.

Colin Stuessi stood out on offense and defense, pairing 18 kills and 10 digs with 38 combined assists from Jack Gwozdz (eight kills) and Aryen Rodriguez to lead Greater New Bedford to a 3-1 Southern Alliance win over Barnstable.
