Source: Vikings agree to terms with former XFL kicker John Parker Romo
With incumbent kicker Greg Jospeh set to become a free agent this week, the Vikings have agreed to terms with former XFL kicker John Parker Romo. A source confirmed the agreement to the Pioneer Press.
Though he’s bounced around for most of his career to this point, Romo had his most success playing for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL last spring. He went an impressive 17 of 19 on field goal attempts to prove himself as a viable option at the next level.
After slowly making a name for himself in the XFL, Romo got a chance in the NFL, spending some time with both the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears. He started his career with a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints, signing as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech on May 16, 2022. He has not attempted a kick of any sort in the NFL.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Vikings bring in another player to compete with Romo throughout the spring and the summer.
