Uruguay Full Year 2023: Fiat Strada reclaims lead, Chevrolet Montana up to #3

58,367 new light vehicles hit Uruguayan roads in 2023, a solid 10.4% year-on-year improvement. The Top 3 manufacturers all outpace the market. Chevrolet (+42.1%) surges ahead to tighten its grip on the charts with 18.1% share, that’s four percentage points above its 2022 level. Fiat (+23.3%) is also in great share and goes from 9.8% to 10.9% of the market. Suzuki (+11.1%) closes out the podium. In contrast Volkswagen (-15.1%), Renault (-12.7%) and Hyundai (-30.9%) all struggle and drops two spots each. Citroen (+58.9%), Peugeot (+49.8%) and Jetour (+43.8%) excel below. BYD (+34.9%) leads the Chinese charge at #11 above Chery (+14.2%) at #12.

Model-wise, the Fiat Strada (+5.6%) reclaims the top spot, however its market share slows from 7.7% to 7.4%. The Chevrolet Onix (+88.6%) surges three spots to #2 while the Chevrolet Montana lands directly at #3. Leader last year, the Hyundai HB20 (-35.2%) sinks to #4 above the Peugeot 208 (+100.8%) in outstanding shape and up 7 ranks to #5. The Suzuki Swift (+18.2%) and VW Saveiro (+20.8%) follow, each gaining one spot on last year to #6 and #7 respectively.
