Loons crush Sporting Arizona in first preseason exhibition match
Minnesota United dismantled Sporting Arizona 7-0 in a scrimmage Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz.
Patrick Weah scored two goals for the Loons against the “professional development club.” One goal apiece came from Robin Lod, Micky Tapias, Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Molik Jesse Khan and Darius Randell, an academy player.
MNUFC will play fellow MLS side CF Montreal in Tucson on Saturday night.
Harvey aboard
United announced Wednesday the signing of defensive midfielder Carlos Harvey from USL Championship side Phoenix Rising. Harvey has a two-year contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026.
The Loons will pay Phoenix a transfer fee of up to $200,000, plus performance-based add-ons, according to a source. The fee was first reported by The Athletic.
Harvey, 23, helped Phoenix win the USL Championship title in 2023. The former L.A. Galaxy/Galaxy II player also plays for the Panama men’s national team.
