Monday’s high school scores and highlights

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jaeden Roberts scored 40 points, surpassing the 1,000–point mark for his career as Burke rolled to a 106-25 win over Snowden in the Boston City League.

Senior captain Evan Yakavonis netted 21 points while sophomore Caleb Baker added 12 to lift Whitman-Hanson (9-2) past Silver Lake 66-55 in Patriot League action.

In nonleague play, Josh Lake had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Martha’s Vineyard (9-3) topped Abington 63-54. Connor Pease erupted for 20 points and 24 rebounds for the Green Wave in the effort.

In the Northeastern Conference, Raphel Laurent collected 32 points, six rebounds and five assists as Peabody (11-2) cruised to a 71-44 victory over Danvers. … Devin O’Brien dropped 24 points, as Masconomet (6-4) survived during a 56-53 victory over rival Swampscott.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Emily Collins led with 20 points and seven steals while Katie Kanvanaugh added a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards as Winchester took down nonleague opponent Lincoln-Sudbury 55-38. … Grace Calvagno led the way with 11 points and 14 rebounds as Innovation (3-6) defeated Collegiate Charter of Lowell, 38-30. … Ella Williamson finished with a team-high 21 points, while Savvy Eriksen added 17 points and six steals to propel Abington during a 58-43 win over Martha’s Vineyard.

Logan Lomasney had 17 points 16 rebounds and five blocked shots as Peabody defeated Danvers 50-37 in the Northeastern Conference.

In the Commonwealth Athletic Conference, Muji Vader dropped 27 points as Minuteman (8-2) defeated Notre Dame Cristo Rey 48-37.

Brianna Dobson led the way with 26 points and 5 steals as EMK defeated Charlestown 46-41 in the Boston City League.

BO{YS HOCKEY

In a nonleague matchup, Patrick McGuirk (three goals, assist) finished with a hat trick, and sniped the game ending goal as Rockland rallied for a 4-3 overtime victory over Latin Academy.

GIRLS CROSS-COUNTRY

Boston Herald All-Scholastic Aoife Shovlin of Cambridge Rindge & Latin School was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Massachusetts Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. Shovlin is the first Gatorade Massachusetts Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School.

The 5-foot-8 junior captured the Division 1 state title this past season, breaking the tape in course record time of 18:16.77 and leading the Falcons to the team championship. Shovlin then repeated the feat at the All-State Meet, setting a new course record (18:06.29) to help Rindge & Latin finish fourth overall. She took 10th at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional, becoming the lone Massachusetts runner to qualify for Nationals, where she finished 32nd. She also finished ninth in the featured Eastern States Championship race at the Manhattan Invitational – clocking a personal-best 14:59.0 for 2.5 miles – the largest meet on the East Coast.
