Man, 22, shot dead at Brockton sushi restaurant
A 22-year-old Brockton man was shot dead Friday night in what authorities are saying was “not a random act of violence.”
Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz said Joe Araujo was pronounced dead at the Good Samaritan Hospital after a shooting inside the Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet at 718 Crescent St. Police said they responded to the incident around 8 p.m. and contacted investigators with Cruz’s office.
“The investigation is active and ongoing by Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police. Preliminarily, the victim appears to have been the target, and this was not a random act of violence,” Cruz’s office said in a statement.
