Not long after Minnesota’s junior synchronized skating team competes as part of Team USA in Austria and Finland, the team will give a free exhibition skate on the University of Minnesota campus.

For the first time in the seven years The Northernettes have been together, they are competing in two international competitions as part of Team USA. The first one will be Friday, Jan. 19, at the Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria, and the second will be Feb. 10 for the Marie Lundmark Trophy in Helsinki, Finland.

Back home, at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 18, the team will have an exhibition skate at Ridder Arena at the University of Minnesota campus.

The Northernettes are a team of 20 skaters ages 14-18 based in Bloomington.

There are more than 600 synchronized skating teams registered with the U.S. Figure Skating organization. Although it is not yet an Olympic sport, it is the fastest growing type of skating in the U.S. Figure Skating world, according to a team release.
