Police in Cloquet, Minn., issue shelter-in-place alert about active shooter

CLOQUET, Minn. — The Cloquet Police Department in northeastern Minnesota issued a shelter-in-place warning Monday evening regarding an active shooter in the area of Big Lake Road and Highway 33.

“There is an active shooter incident in progress, and the suspect is still at large. Please stay calm and take immediate action to ensure your safety,” authorities said in a news release. “If you are currently in the affected area, seek shelter immediately. Go to a room with a lock if possible, close and lock all windows and doors, and remain quiet. Call 911 if you see anything suspicious.”

The news release indicated there are multiple victims, and urged the public to wait for official word before leaving their sheltered locations.
