McMurtry Spéirling PURE Production Car Delivers 1.55-Second 0 to 60 MPH Performance

McMurtry Automotive has revealed the final production version of its wild Spéirling PURE, and it remains one of the most outrageous track cars ever offered to private customers. This single-seat electric fan car is built around one very clear mission: give owners access to Formula 1-level grip and acceleration without requiring a full race team to run it. After years of development, record-setting prototype runs, and thousands of kilometers of testing, the production Spéirling PURE is now ready to move from engineering marvel to customer-owned track weapon.

The headline numbers are almost hard to process. McMurtry says the Spéirling PURE can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.55 seconds with a one-foot rollout, generate 3g in corners, pull 3g under braking, and reach a top speed of 190 mph. Power comes from a new 100-kWh lithium-ion battery using Molicel cells, feeding twin rear motors that deliver 1,000 bhp to the rear wheels. For a car that weighs around 2,980 pounds depending on options, that makes for the kind of acceleration usually reserved for purpose-built drag machines, yet this one is designed to corner with astonishing force as well.

The secret remains McMurtry’s patented Downforce-on-Demand system. Instead of relying only on traditional wings and airflow, the Spéirling PURE uses high-speed fans to pull the car down onto the track surface, producing up to 2,000 kg, or 4,400 pounds, of downforce from 0 mph. That means the car has serious grip before it even starts moving, which is why it can launch, brake, and corner with such violence. The fans spin up to 23,000 rpm and also give the car a distinctive jet-like sound, making it one of the few EVs that should be just as memorable to hear as it is to watch.

Compared with the earlier prototypes, McMurtry says the production Spéirling PURE is made up of 95% new components. The battery grows from 60 kWh to 100 kWh, the wheelbase stretches to 86.6 inches, and the car is slightly larger overall to improve packaging, driver comfort, and serviceability. There is a new carbon-fiber monocoque built to meet global motorsport safety standards, more cabin space, a wider door opening, a repositioned A-pillar for better visibility, and even a small boot compartment under the swan-neck rear wing for a helmet and HANS device.

The production car also brings important changes to make the Spéirling PURE less intimidating to own. The powertrain cooling system has been moved from the rear to the front to improve efficiency and aerodynamics, while the fan system has been redesigned with more durable blades, new motors, improved cooling, and an onboard air compressor for the skirt system. Owners no longer need an external air bottle to pre-charge that setup, and the skirt can be retracted for trailer loading or low-speed pit-lane maneuvering.

McMurtry has also focused on making the car more approachable on track. The suspension now has more articulation and a 20% increase in nominal ride height when in use. Michelin slicks are wider up front and slightly wider at the rear, with taller sidewalls to improve compliance. The steering switches from electric assistance to a hydraulic power-assisted setup with Formula 1-style valving, aiming for lighter effort and better feedback. Optional electronically adjustable dampers will also be available for owners who want more tuning flexibility.

Inside, the Spéirling PURE is still a focused single-seat machine, but it is no longer just a bare prototype environment. Each owner gets a custom-molded seat similar to what you would find in endurance racing, along with adjustable pedals and steering wheel positioning. A racing-style steering wheel places key controls within easy reach, while a central display shows power settings, fan settings, charge level, speed, and temperatures. McMurtry will also offer extensive customization, including paint, graphics, wheel designs, stitching, trim colors, and logos.

Pricing starts at £995,000, or about $1.3 million, before local taxes, shipping, and options, with deliveries scheduled to begin later in 2026. The Spéirling PURE will be shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 9 through July 12 before its full production debut at The Quail in Monterey on August 14. For owners, McMurtry is also building a broader experience around the car through its Owners Club, including driver training, factory support, global track events, and technical access. It may be tiny, electric, and unlike anything else in the paddock, but the Spéirling PURE looks ready to redefine what a private track car can be.
