Winthrop police officer charged with child rape
A Winthrop police officer has been charged with child rape and indecent assault following an investigation by state police assigned to the Suffolk DA’s office.
Winthrop police Lt. James Feeley was placed on leave pending the investigation, according to a statement from Winthrop police chief Terence M. Delehanty.
Feeley has been charged with child rape and indecent assault on a child under 14, according to the DA’s office.
“James Feeley has been placed on administrative leave from the Winthrop Police Department pending the outcome of a criminal investigation headed by State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office,” Delehanty said in a statement.
Feeley is due to be arraigned today at East Boston District Court.
