Boston Police investigating officer-involved shooting of naked man in Beacon Hill
Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting, sparked by calls of a naked man with a knife who allegedly broke into a Beacon Hill business.
Officers responded to reports of a breaking-and-entering on Mount Vernon Street, the address of the 1928 Beacon Hill restaurant, around 6 a.m. There, they encountered a naked man armed with a “large knife” in a rear alley, BPD Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said this morning.
McLaughlin added that three officers responded to the scene, with an officer attempting to use a department-issued Taser to subdue the man, “striking the suspect to no avail.”
“Officers then discharged their department-issued firearms multiple times, striking the individual,” McLaughlin said. “He was immediately given first aid by the officers on scene and immediately transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.”
All three officers were also taken to a hospital for evaluation. McLaughlin said it was too early to know how many shots were fired.
