Boston Weather: ‘Steady rainfall’ incoming midweek to break dry spell

The Boston area is expected to see steady rainfall and cooler temperatures incoming after and dry and warm start to the week, according to NWS forecasts.

“The big story will be just a little bit of relief in terms of how dry it’s been,” said NWS meteorologist Francis Tarasiewicz. … “Pretty much the second half of the week, we’re looking at a wet period of time with below average temperatures.”

Monday and Tuesday are expected to kick off the week with warm, mostly sunny weather, NWS forecasts show. Monday may reach a high in the mid-70s, before temperatures peak Tuesday in the mid-80s.

Starting in Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m., NWS forecasts a chance of rain kicking in.

“We’ll finally see some rain later Tuesday afternoon into the evening and could see some thunderstorms as well,” said Tarasiewicz.

Temperatures are expected to drop back down to a high closer to 70 degrees Wednesday, NWS forecasts. Wednesday in likely to be mostly cloudy, with around a 50% chance of rain throughout the day.

“We’ve got kind of a raw day Wednesday, maybe some scattered rain showers and much cooler weather highs,” said Tarasiewicz. “And then after that, we’ve got a bit more rain on the way for Thursday and Friday, possibly with embedded showers for those days.”

Thursday is forecast to reach a cooler high in the upper 60s, with partly sunny skies returning and a low chance of rain remaining through the day, NWS states.
