Boston man sentenced for 3 shootings in Cambridge and Somerville
A Boston man will spend at least five years in state prison for three attempted shootings in Cambridge and Somerville.
Lennox Pierre-Louis, 22, of Boston, pleaded guilty in Middlesex Superior Court to three attempted shootings: a Dec. 27, 2021, shooting on Marshall Street in Somerville; another on Windsor Street in Cambridge on March 11, 2022; and another in Cambridge on June 18, 2022.
Middlesex Superior Court Judge James Budrea sentenced Lennox Pierre-Louis, 22, of Boston, to five to six years in state prison for the June 2022 and the December 2021 shootings, which are to be served concurrently, as well as two and a half years for the March 2022 shooting.
“Over the course of the past year we have seen an alarming increase in the frequency of random gun violence, especially among young people. These bullets are striking homes and vehicles indiscriminately,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement following the sentencing. “Clearly, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.”
It was the June 2022 shooting that put detectives on his trail, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office. In that incident, Cambridge police responded to the area between the parallel Hurley and Charles Streets for reports of multiple gunshots. They collected about a dozen shell casings and saw that at least four vehicles and a building had been struck.
The DA says the shooter had fled the area, but Pierre-Louis crashed his car shortly after and he was arrested on an unrelated warrant and then connected to the shooting. Surveillance video purportedly showed him firing shots at another man but failed to hit him.
He was charged with armed assault to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, trafficking cocaine over 18 grams, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of personal injury and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
The investigation then connected him to the other shootings, neither of which hit a target. The December 2021 incident took place on Marshall Street in Somerville. Police say they recovered “ballistic evidence” from a playground there and that a bullet struck a car but didn’t hit the driver. In the March 2022 incident, according to the DA statement, three shots were fired, striking two buildings, including a residence.
