Red Sox catcher scratched from lineup after falling ill

The bug that’s been going around Red Sox camp claimed another victim late Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Sox scratched Connor Wong from the starting lineup about an hour before first pitch against the Minnesota Twins. The catcher had been present at JetBlue Park throughout the day but came down with an illness as the day went along.

Seby Zavala got the start at catcher in his place.

Wong is the latest Red Sox player to come down sick. Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Triston Casas and Justin Slaten were among those who also missed time due to illness, and right-hander Austin Adams also stayed home on Wednesday as well.
