72-year-old Litchfield woman dies after semi collision
A 72-year-old Litchfield resident died Tuesday after colliding with a semi in Kingston Township, according to Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Gloria Nething of rural Litchfield was driving a 1999 Plymouth Voyager westbound on 330th Street around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when she reportedly failed to yield to a semi at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 24. The vehicles collided and went into the ditch.
Jesse Albright, 34, of Royalton, Minn., was driving a 2009 Peterbilt semi northbound on Highway 24. He was pulling a grain trailer full of corn, which tipped over and spilled the corn into the ditch. The semi and trailer are owned by R.J. Lanners Inc., of Royalton.
Nething was pronounced dead at the scene. Albright refused medical treatment at the scene. Meeker County deputies, Minnesota State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance and Kimball Fire Department and Rescue responded to the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation by Minnesota State Patrol and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, assisted by the the Sheriff’s Office.
