McAdoo is a rare holdover from the Jerod Mayo era to Mike Vrabel’s new coaching staff. He joined the organization last year in a multi-faceted role, which included assisting with the development of Drake Maye. It’s unclear what McAdoo’s title will be next season under returned offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
McAdoo is a former NFL head coach and offensive coordinator who was out of football before arriving in New England. He worked for three different teams in the three prior seasons, going from the Jaguars’ quarterbacks coach in 2020 to a consultant for the Cowboys in 2021 and the Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2022. McAdoo’s only head-coaching stint spanned two seasons with the Giants and ended with his firing in 2017.
Previously, McAdoo served as an offensive coordinator in New York and a quarterbacks coach and tight ends coach in Green Bay. He has no prior experience with McDaniels.
The 47-year-old becomes the third coach to remain in New England under Vrabel, following special teams coaches Jeremy Springer and Tom Quinn.
