Uruguay July 2026: Dongfeng surges to #3, Nammi overall best-seller

The Dongfeng Nammi is the best-selling vehicle in Uruguay in July.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay are up 13.4% year-on-year in July to 6,698 units. This is believed to be the 2nd highest ever monthly volume record in the country below the 6,755 units of last December, and a new all-time high record for July. The year-to-date tally is now up 18.6% to 43,488. BYD (-0.8%) celebrates one year since first ascending to first place by reclaiming the top spot with 11% share. Fiat (-14.2%) is in difficulty at #2 but the performer of the month is Dongfeng, up 329.1% year-on-year to climb 15 spots on June and land on the third step of the podium.

According to the manufacturer, the Dongfeng Nammi was the best-selling vehicle in the country in July. #1 last month, Chevrolet (+8.1%) falls to #4 with a freefalling Suzuki (-43.7%) rounding out the Top 5. GAC (+1018.5%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #7, with Jetour (+225.3%), Geely (+201.2%) and Toyota (+118.5%) all posting surreal YoY gains in the remainder of the Top 10. 36 out of the 70 brands selling at least one unit in July are Chinese, adding up to 52.7% share vs. 30.7% a year ago in July 2025 thanks to sales up +94.6% to 3,527.
