Four teens indicted for beating of Danvers man after they allegedly ‘lured’ him into woods

Four teenagers were indicted Monday for the beating of Christopher Anderson of Danvers, who was allegedly “lured” into the woods behind a school and attacked by the juveniles, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said.

Police responded to the backside of Holten Richmond High School on Oct. 12 to find Anderson, 43, who reportedly has a disability, with injuries, including two fractured ribs, authorities said.

“Further investigation revealed that Anderson was lured into the woods behind the school near Plains Park, where he was then attacked by the six juveniles,” Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and Danvers Police Chief Jamie Lovell said. “The assailants allegedly kicked Anderson and threw a bike onto him.”

A grand jury indicted Christian Ramos, 15, of Lawrence, and Danvers residents Armani Mendez, 15, Landon Chesna, 15, and Daeson Margarin, 14, Tucker and Lovell said. Warrants were issued for two other juveniles for the assault and battery on Anderson, authorities said.

“From the onset of this investigation, detectives and school resource officers from the Danvers Police Department worked closely with our office to identify and hold accountable those involved in this reprehensible act of violence on a vulnerable member of the Danvers community,” Tucker said.

Lovell thanked Anderson, his family, and the community for their “unwavering support, patience, and understanding during this challenging process, which has been truly commendable.”

“I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our officers, detectives, and school resource officers. Their commitment to this investigation and the collaboration with the District Attorney’s Office has been essential in our ability to reach this point,” Lovell said.

Anderson’s mother, Antoinette Anderson, previously said she was “sick to death” after the incident, WCVB reported.

“They pinned him to ground, beat him, punched him in mouth, scratched his neck, broke two ribs, kicked him,” the TV station reported her as saying.
