The new Ford Explorer is an instant blockbuster in Denmark. 

New car sales in Denmark gain 8.9% year-on-year in October to 14,409 units. This brings the year-to-date tally up 2.5% to 140,652. Volkswagen (+71.9%) surges ahead to cement its leadership in the brands charts with 12.7% share. Skoda (+94.5%) is the performer of the month, almost doubling its sales year-on-year and up to #2 and 10.6% share vs. #6 and 6% year-to-date. In fact the remainder of the Top 7 brands all beat the market, with BMW (+41.9%) the most dynamic ahead of Audi (+14.7%), Ford (+14.7%), Toyota (+14%) and Mercedes (+10.5%). Xpeng (+278%) smashes all its records at #13 with 412 sales and 2.9% share vs. a previous best of 1.9%.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Enyaq (+196%) triples its year-ago volume to easily lead the way at 7.2% share and over 1,000 sales. This is the nameplate’s 2nd ever win in Denmark after last August and new volume and share records. The new Ford Explorer is up a further four spots on September to a record 2nd place with 4.2% share and now ranks #36 year-to-date. The VW ID.4 (+171.8%) rounds out the podium and is now #2 year-to-date while the Tesla Model Y (-21.8%) underperforms at #4 but easily holds onto the YTD top spot. The Audi Q4 e-Tron (+117.3%) and VW ID.3 (+406.9%) follow. The next two nameplates break into the Danish Top 10 for the first time: the VW ID.7 is #7 and the Xpeng G6 #8. The Mercedes EQA (+115.3%) ensures the entire Top 9 is 100% BEVs.
