Carr is right

As a Howie Carr fan going back to his days teaming up with Barbara Anderson from Citizens for Limited Taxation on the Jerry Williams WRKO radio show, I have always enjoyed his insights on Bay State politics and his Boston Herald column (“Single-party rule is ruining Massachusetts,” Oct. 25) shows he is still on top of his game when it comes to Politics 101 around these parts.

We have been a one-party state going back to 1978 when incumbent US Senator Ed Brooke narrowly defeated radio talk show host Avi Nelson in the Republican state primary for US Senate, It’s been all downhill since then.

Carr is right, voters shouldn’t just stop after they pass by president and US senate, they need to continue down-ballot too. Unfortunately, there is rarely a down-ballot choice to be made as the MassGOP hasn’t had a clue what to do about building up its grassroots in decades.

As a longtime Democrat and short-time Republican, I feel very comfortable being listed as an unenrolled voter. I will be voting for Donald Trump for the third time but sadly cannot vote for John Deaton running for US Senate simply because he is the lesser of two evils. I am tired from playing that game.

Where is the MassGOP? Why have they for all intents and purposes gone MIA at election time? No wonder they have lost power. They are only putting up candidates for 47 House districts and only 13 candidates for Senate districts.

I am tired of just sending messages, I want to see the status quo changed for the better. If all we have is a weak MassGOP, it should be up to the state’s voters, those upset with the radical Democrats who keep getting re-elected without getting challenged at election time.

Howie is correct, single party rule is ruinous. A one party state is unAmerican because our democratic republic needs to constantly debate the issues ensuring it really reflects the will of all the people. Bring back the two-party system we once had.

Harris v. Trump

Racist. Sexist. Misogynistic. Homophobic. Transphobic. Xenophobic. A wanna-be dictator. Authoritarian. Fascist. Hitleresque. Emotionally unhinged. Mentally unstable. An existential threat to democracy. A national security risk. A threat to world order. Dangerous.

These are all the derogatory things Donald Trump’s critics routinely say about him. Yet despite all of that, Kamala Harris has been unable to pull away from Trump in the polls, and is, in fact, behind Trump in several of the more respected ones.

What must that say about her?
