Uruguay September 2024: Volkswagen (+60%), BYD (+157.3%) impress

Volkswagen sales are up 60% year-on-year in September.

5,196 new light vehicles hit Uruguayan roads in September, a small 3.1% year-on-year gain. The year-to-date tally is now up 7.6% to 44,139. Chevrolet (-16.9%) easily keeps the lead despite a heavy year-on-year loss linked to a particularly high year-ago performance when it reached its highest market share in 5.5 years. Volkswagen (+60%) advances one spot on August to #2 with 11.4%, its second consecutive month above 10% and highest share since February 2023 (12.1%). Volkswagen now ranks #3 year-to-date, passing Renault (+24.4%) at #4 for the month. Fiat (+31.5%) is also strong at #3. BYD (+157.3%) scores the largest uptick in the Top 10 at #8, with Citroen (+15.1%) also dynamic at #7.
