Geely sales are up 8-fold year-on-year in May.

It’s another exceptional month for new light vehicle sales in Uruguay at +20.3% year-on-year in May to 6,334 units. Once again this is believed to be the biggest May volume in history. The year-to-date tally is now up 17.4% to 30,319. BYD (+47.3%) is by far the best-selling marque in the country, signing a 4th win for the year at 12.2% share. Chevrolet (+23%) is also very healthy at #2 while Renault (-6.9%) and Fiat (-20%) struggle even though the former climbs to #4 year-to-date. The performer of the month is Geely (+730.9%) up 8-fold year-on-year to advance to 5th place overall with 457 sales and 7.2% share, all records. GAC (+1445.5%), Dongfeng (+149.2%) and Suzuki (+110.1%) also shine below. All in all, the 33 Chinese brands selling at least one unit this month add up to 47.4% share vs. 27.8% a year ago thanks to sales up 105.2% year-on-year.
