Medvedev gana el título de Dubái tras retiro por lesión de Griekspoor

DUBAI, Emiratos Árabes Unidos (AP) — Daniil Medvedev ganó el sábado su 23er título individual de la ATP en el Campeonato de Dubái cuando Tallon Griekspoor se retiró lesionado de la final.
Griekspoor se lastimó el isquiotibial izquierdo el viernes ante Andrey Rublev y ganó su semifinal en dos sets, pero no pudo recuperarse a tiempo para la final.
“He estado mejor, eso seguro. Fui al hospital esta mañana y me hicieron un par de escaneos, que mostraron algo serio. Eso me impidió salir a la cancha esta noche y me mantendrá fuera de la cancha en las próximas semanas”, señaló el neerlandés en la ceremonia de entrega de trofeos.
Medvedev conquistó su segundo título del año, después de Brisbane en enero. También fue su segundo título en Dubái tras la victoria en 2023. Es la primera vez que gana el mismo torneo dos veces.
“Eso es lo que es una locura. Nunca lo había logrdo en ningun torneo del mundo y la primera vez que lo hago, es (por) una victoria por retiro”, señaló Medvedev.
