Woman treated for smoke inhalation after Hugo fire

A woman in Hugo was treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation on Sunday night after a fire broke out at a townhome complex on Victor Path

The fire started around 6 p.m. Sunday in the garage of an end unit of a townhome complex in the 4500 block of Victor Path and spread to the second floor, said Hugo Fire Chief Jim Compton Jr.

Six children and their grandmother were home at the time of the fire, but no one in the unit was injured. A woman who lived in the adjacent unit, however, later went to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation she experienced while evacuating her unit, Compton Jr. said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.
