Women’s basketball: Gophers go on the road and beat Oregon
Amaya Battle and Grace Grocholski combined to score 39 points and lead Minnesota to a 65-60 victory over Oregon on Thursday in Eugene, Ore.
Battle finished with 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Gophers (13-6, 4-4 Big Ten) snapped a two-game losing streak. Grocholski scored 19 points, and her steal with 8 seconds left set up a layup by Sophie Hart to salt the game away. Hart finished with 14 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
Mara Braun had a team-high nine rebounds.
Grocholski’s 3-pointer with 2:30 remaining gave the Gophers a 62-50 lead, but Oregon (14-7, 2-6) used a 9-1 run to make it 63-60 with 53 seconds left.
Ehis Etute had a game-high 12 rebounds and was one of three Oregon players to finish with 11 points.
