Josh McDaniels provides update on Patriots rookie Kyle Williams
FOXBORO — Patriots rookie wide receiver Kyle Williams hasn’t produced in games this season, but he’s still impressing coaches behind the scenes.
The 2025 third-round pick has just two catches on four targets for 20 yards this season and hasn’t hauled in a target since Week 3. He’s also been blocked on the depth chart by Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas.

“I think some of that is the opportunities. What we’ve done is look at the things we’re doing when the ball doesn’t come to you — are you doing the right things? And a lot of times he is,” offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said of Williams Thursday. “The ball hasn’t quite found him on certain things yet, but if it does, then we’ll see what that looks like. So I think the fact that he continues to practice well, continues to have the ability to play at multiple positions, gives him the ability to be in the game. And we’re not like, ‘hey, put him in a position where you can’t get it.’ He’s in there running plays.
“Last week, he subbed in for Diggs, he subbed in for Boutte, subbed in for the slot. So I think opportunities are there. He’s present, available every day at practice. He’s doing a really good job of understanding his assignments. And I think, like I’ve said about Pop (Douglas) and Kayshon and Diggsy and different guys at different times, I think it’ll find him, and we just got to continue to try to press forward on the process of doing the right thing. And I’m excited when he gets his opportunity. I really am. I’m looking forward to it.”
We’ll see if Williams can find his way back onto the box score Sunday against the Titans.
