Isaiah Rodgers named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

As if there was any doubt, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

This was pretty much a formality after Rodgers made NFL history while helping lead the Vikings to a 48-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. In the game, Rodgers returned an interception for a touchdown and a fumble for a touchdown, while also forcing a pair of fumbles for good measure.

Not only did Rodgers became the first player in NFL history to record multiple defensive touchdowns and multiple forced fumbles in a game, he also became the first player in franchise history to record multiple defensive touchdowns in a game.

The unprecedented performance from Rodgers earned a perfect 99.9 grade, per Pro Football Focus, the highest grade the platform has even given to a player in a game.

This is the type of playmaker defensive coordinator Brian Flores believed the Vikings were getting when he petitioned for them to sign Rodgers as a free agent. Though he might never replicate that game, Rodgers appears to be hitting his stride with the Vikings.
