Letters to the editor
Charlie Kirk
In an era of escalating political violence, the latest victim was Charlie Kirk who was murdered on Sept. 10 on a Utah college campus while addressing a large audience of students who were willing to engage in good faith debate.
Many of us still have raw feelings about this senseless killing, especially young people. The assassination offers the latest example of how hateful some of our fellow Americans are since many cannot even hide their vitriol and hatred for Kirk and conservatives.
Celebratory social media posts about Kirk’s death should be viewed as offensive to everyone no matter what your political views. Would our neighbors who have made callous and inappropriate comments on social media about this assassination acted in the same fashion in response to the murders of JFK, MLK or RFK if social media existed at that time?
Posts or public comments that can be viewed as promoting hostility or violence are extremely offensive to me. Young people loved Charlie and he went into places where he was hated, with the goal of promoting reasonable discourse. The Left hated Charlie Kirk so much because he confronted them with facts and did so with good cheer.
Any teachers or school administrators that made disgusting statements about Kirk’s assassination should have their teaching licenses suspended or revoked.
Our youth are inheriting a country that the founders would not recognize.
Political violence metastasizes in communities, and Charlie Kirk was a person who still possessed optimism about the future of our country,
Our young people need to log off and touch grass.

Assassination reaction
It was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate statesmanship and character. A chance to heal and reflect on our shared sorrow and unwavering commitment to the ideals of this great country. He could have asked for a pause in the dangerous rhetoric amidst the shock of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. He would have drawn deep admiration from his colleagues on both sides of the aisle. Instead, he pivoted immediately to…Jan. 6.
Despite his education and service, Seth Moulton just inexplicably revealed that deep down he’s a first-rate partisan political hack.

Political violence
President Donald Trump left Democrats bruised, battered and bewildered after running the table last time around. His whirlwind presidency since has left them stunned. Trump, a political aberration, is spanning the gamut of voter’s concerns domestically and globally. He is a serious public servant searching for answers and his record attracts young voters seeking the same.
Charlie Kirk harkened to this rational voice and led a national effort to proselytize the message. Thus, he became a target for mentally challenged radicals without coping resources. The answer must be loud condemnation of the violent methods used against conservatives, vigorous law enforcement and use of debate to settle differences.
