High-tech game room, presidential shoes and more coming soon to Roseville mall
After losing a major tenant earlier this year, Rosedale Center in Roseville is poised to welcome a handful of new businesses.
A premium shoe seller, a jewelry store and a high-tech game room are a few of the new tenants “coming soon” to the mall.
SeaQuest Roseville, a popular aquarium at the mall, abruptly closed earlier this year.
A spokesperson for Rosedale Center declined to share details on the six new tenants, including how soon the stores will open, but here’s a look at the new businesses now listed on the mall’s website.
Brkthrough
The listing for Brkthrough on the mall directory describes it as “a brand new social entertainment experience designed for teams of 2-4 players.”
Designed with adults in mind, Brkthrough offers a variety of “high-technology challenge rooms” that combine physical, mental and skill-based challenges, according to its website. Each game takes three to five minutes and visitors can buy passes for hour-long intervals.
Brkthrough’s two existing locations, one in Kansas and another in Texas, also serve shareable food plates, craft beers and wine.
“I’d liken it to a live-action Mario Party,” wrote one Redditor who visited the Kansas location. Once it opens in Roseville, Breakthrough can be found on the north side of J.C. Penney.
J. Crew Factory
J. Crew Factory, a discounted version of the retailer that sells men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, will set up shop on the lower level outdoor plaza next to Evereve and Williams Sonoma.
Not quite new to the mall, J. Crew closed its full-price store at Rosedale Center in 2020. Soon after, J. Crew closed its last St. Paul location on Grand Avenue.

Today, the only J. Crew store in Minnesota is located in Edina’s Southdale mall.
There are, however, other J. Crew Factory stores near the metro area. Those can be found in Woodbury, St. Louis Park and at Eagan’s Twin Cities Premium Outlets.
Lolli and Pops
Lolli and Pops, a candy store known for its cotton candy, gummy bears and international snacks, will open its first Minnesota location at Rosedale Center.
Lolli and Pops can be found across the country in states like California, Washington, Colorado, Texas and Illinois, to name a few. The closest storefronts to the North Star State include Milwaukee, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Roseville storefront will be located on the lower level next to Von Maur.
Johnston & Murphy
Footwear, clothing and leather goods retailer Johnston & Murphy will soon open near the Apple store at the Rosedale Center.
Founded in New Jersey in 1850, the company was first named “The William J. Dudley Shoe Company,” after its founder.
That same year, “We custom-designed shoes for President Fillmore — kicking off a tradition of shodding every U.S. President since,” according to the company history.
Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama are just a handful of presidents that have worn their shoes.
Johnston & Murphy can also be found at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. A factory outlet version of the retailer can be found in Eagan at the Twin Cities Premium Outlets.
Kendra Scott
Kendra Scott, a jewelry company named after its founder, will soon tally its third Minnesota storefront.
Founded in Austin, Texas in 2002, the business sells necklaces, earrings, watches, fragrances and personalized jewelry and has grown to more than 150 store locations.
Founder and philanthropist Kendra Scott also started the Kendra Scott Foundation in 2023 to empower women and youth in health, wellness, education and entrepreneurship.
Scott, who was born in Kenosha, Wis., will return as a guest judge this fall on the business reality show “Shark Tank.”
The Roseville store will be the third location in Minnesota, with one at Edina’s Southdale Center and the other at the Mall of America.
Paris Baguette
Founded in South Korea, Paris Baguette is a fast casual bakery that offers donuts, pastries, cakes and more.
Launched in 1988, Paris Baguette has grown to over 4,000 locations worldwide and aims to hit 1,000 in North America by 2030, Manufacturing Dive reports.
With a location in Maple Grove, the bakery plans to open its second shop in the state on the lower level of Rosedale Center near Evereve.
Aquarium closure
The new tenants could be a breath of fresh air for the mall, which recently lost its embattled aquarium.
SeaQuest Roseville, an interactive aquarium chain that opened in 2019, quickly closed in February due to several factors.
The Idaho-based aquarium chain filed for bankruptcy in December 2024 where it reported up to $1 million in assets and at least $10 million in liabilities. Bankruptcy court records also showed the aquarium chain had dropped its revenue from $27.1 million in 2022 to $15.2 million in 2023.

In addition to financial troubles, SeaQuest was also the subject of investigations by both state and federal agencies.
An August 2024 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that SeaQuest Roseville kept animals in hazardous enclosures, failed to clean accumulated mouse feces and let animals go months without regular visits from a veterinarian, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Since the aquarium’s closure, its animals have been rehomed to other zoos including the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley, SEA LIFE at the Mall of America and the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in St. Paul. Bengal cat brothers Flynn and Ferguson were relocated from SeaQuest to the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minn.
