Taiwan July 2025: Toyota Corolla Cross breaks share record in devastated market (-22.3%)

The Toyota Corolla Cross holds a record 14.1% of the Taiwanese market in July.

The least we can say for July new car sales in Taiwan is that they are disappointing. At 35,483 units, they are off -22.3 on July 2024. As a result the YTD tally is now off -15.7% to 234,450. Market leader Toyota (-17.8%) improves its share to 31.6% vs. 30.9% so far this year, while Lexus (-28%) is back up three spots on June to the #2 rank it holds year-to-date. CMC (+15.7%) is the only gainer in the Top 8 at #3, distancing Honda (-25.8%), Mercedes (-37.4%), Hyundai (-19.4%) and BMW (-33.9%). Mazda (-9.1%) contains its loss somewhat while Tesla (+106.7%) defies the surrounding gloom and posts a stellar surge.

The Toyota Corolla Cross (+14%) goes against the grain to reach 14.1% share, a new record for the nameplate eclipsing its previous best of 13.4% reached in November 2020. Far below is the Toyota Town Ace (-25.8%) which exchanges positions with the new CMC J Space, The Toyota Yaris Cross (-5.4%) is up two spots on last month to #4 while the Tesla Model Y surges 203.4% year-on-year and rounds out the Top 5. The Honda HR-V points its bonnet inside the Top 10 at #8. The Lexus UX (+36.2%) and Mazda CX-30 (+22.8%) also post excellent scores further down.
