It’s a long, long way from Khal Drogo in “Game of Thrones” or Aquaman to the giddily berserk fantasy adventure comedy that is “A Minecraft Movie” and for Jason Momoa that’s exactly how it should be.

Based on the world’s best-selling videogame, “Minecraft Movie” is decidedly different, continually emphasizing the wacky, the wild, the nonsensical. With music. And Jack Black.

“We definitely get to see the side of me where I love to laugh and be silly,” Momoa, both star and producer, acknowledged in a phone interview.

Minecraft is, he learned, “A beautiful world where you get to go in and create and disappear and build your own world. And this whole movie is about protecting imagination.

“I’m like, that’s amazing. Of course, I’m going to protect imagination. My whole job is built on that.”

This “Minecraft” means being, “Stuck in the ‘80s, which is a whole other awesome trait, because I’m a kid born in ’79. So I was raised in the ‘80s. So I built this around all the people I looked up to. Whoever you know in their prime, in that time, then you just keep them there.”

His Garrett Garrison is, he said, “A burnout. A bit of a loner. A  very insecure man. It was just fun to go on that journey where he gets to be reborn again and not be coward and think of others first.

“And suddenly there’s a lot of fun, human moments in there from my guy.”

Intentionally designed as “A movie everyone can see” it’s notable seeing Momoa going wild and crazy in a hot pink leather jacket, blasting on a guitar.

“I love pink. I got a pink Cadillac,” he revealed.

For anyone who’s never played Minecraft, “You don’t need to know anything about Minecraft. We tried to do this where we totally respect every one.

“We leave some of those treasure eggs in there for everyone that knows the game, and just respect the whole world of Minecraft.  Mojang, the (Swedish) creators of it, were there with us the whole time making this a beautiful, human story.

“Where anyone can watch and fall in love with it. In this time right now, in this world, to escape and go to this really beautiful world and have some fun? You’re gonna feel really good watching it. Hopefully we make you laugh silly.”

Would Momoa say his time as Aquaman has definitely come to an end?

“I would never say that. No. I mean, was Rocky over? When Rocky got to ‘Rocky V’ it was born again, you know?

“I’ll always be Aquaman. Like, no one’s making another Aquaman. So we’re in that for right now.”

“A Minecraft Movie” is in theaters Friday
