Bruins waive Vinni Lettieri and Patrick Brown
The Bruins placed veterans Patrick Brown and Vinni Lettieri on waivers, the team announced on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Lettieri has two goals and one assist and is minus-8 in 19 games with Boston and Brown has one assist and is minus-2 in 13 games with the big club.
If the vets clear, they very well could stay up in Boston but it would allow the club to bring them up and down for the rest of the season while they possibly get a look at another young player somewhere in the final eight games.
The B’s also sent to Providence forward Fabian Lysell and defenseman Michael Callahan, neither of whom require waivers. Both those players are most likely paper transactions and will be back with the team before Tuesday’s against Washington at the Garden.
The B’s playoff chances are becoming miniscule. They have lost eight straight, including all five and are now eight points out of the second wild card spot. These last eight games are more about securing a good draft pick while trying to maintain some level of competitiveness.
