New Patriot Stefon Diggs has heard Drake Maye-Josh Allen comparisons
New Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs expressed his excitement about playing with quarterback Drake Maye in his introductory press conference Friday at Gillette Stadium.
One thing that has Diggs pumped is that Maye has drawn comparisons to his old quarterback with the Bills, Josh Allen.
“I really look forward to it. It’s crazy because when you ask around, he has a lot of similarities; well, people say through the grapevine he acts a lot like Josh,” Diggs said. “And you know, that was my guy. So I look forward to meeting him and connecting with him.”

Allen had his first breakout season in 2020 when Diggs came on board in a trade with the Vikings. Diggs had his best season that year, catching 127 passes for 1,535 yards with eight touchdowns, while Allen earned his first Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro nods.
Maye made the Pro Bowl as an alternate in 2024, but should see a significant leap in Year 2 with a wide receiver like Diggs to assist him. Diggs is at a different point in his career as he returns from a torn ACL at Age 31, but he’s still better than any pass-catcher Maye was working with in 2024.
Diggs, who was with the Texans last season, liked what he saw from the young QB during their matchup last season.
“We played him last year and he showed a lot of fight. He has that fiery quarterback, ‘I want to win’ mindset,” Diggs said. “So that’s something I get excited about and love to be around.”
Maye made his first career start against the Texans and went 20-of-33 for 243 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing five times for 38 yards in the 41-21 Patriots loss.
Diggs said he’s connected with Maye “real lightly” so far. The wide receiver agreed to join the Patriots on Tuesday and officially signed his contract Friday.
“We’ve texted when everything was like circling around and followed him on Instagram,” Diggs said. “But I look forward to getting to know him on a little bit more of a personal level now that the ink is dry. So, I’m excited.”
