Illegal Ugandan accused of ‘savagely’ assaulting pregnant Massachusetts woman arrested
An illegal Ugandan alien has been arrested by ICE agents on charges he “savagely assaulted” a pregnant Massachusetts woman, with the heinous details coming out just this week.
Agents with ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston arrested Gedion Masunsu, 28, in Waltham earlier this winter charging him with two counts of assault and battery on a pregnant victim and destruction of property.
The Waltham Police Department arrested Masunsu on the above counts on Jan. 6, but Waltham District Court allegedly failed to honor ICE’s immigration detainer lodged that day, with Masunsu subsequently being released from custody.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement gained custody of Masunsu weeks later, on Jan. 25.
The feds allege that Masunsu attempted to enter the country using an expired visa at Logan International Airport in Boston on April 14, 2021. Customs and Border Protection then issued an order of expedited removal and paroled Masunsu into the U.S.
“Not only is Gedion Masunsu in this country illegally, he savagely assaulted a pregnant Massachusetts resident, endangering the victim and her unborn child,” ERO Boston’s acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said in a statement on Thursday.
“We will not tolerate such acts of violence against the members of our New England communities,” she added. “ICE stands firm in our commitment to prioritizing public safety by arresting and removing alien offenders from our streets.”
Details about Masunsu’s arrest came out the same day that the Trump administration included links in a White House email to ICE press releases highlighting arrests ERO Boston has made of illegal immigrants charged with various crimes including rape of a child, sex crimes, among others
In the email, the Trump administration slammed defiant remarks Boston Mayor Michelle Wu made Wednesday in her State of the City address around the city’s commitment to continue protecting the city’s illegal immigrants amid the president’s vow to carry out mass deportations.
Some of the incidents allegedly occurred in Boston, while others were allegedly committed in other parts of Massachusetts like Lawrence and Falmouth.
The White House communication solely focused on Wu, however, with the headline, “Boston’s radical mayor puts violent criminal illegal aliens first.”
Wu slapped back Thursday night.
“Last night I spoke to the people of Boston about our work to improve the lives of our residents and continue Boston’s historic legacy for the public good,” Wu said in a statement. “I’m glad that the White House watched the speech, but Boston’s record does not match their reckless propaganda.”
