Wet weather? Bring it on with these fab fashion finds

Spring is around the corner — but we’ve got to go through some drizzly, foggy, soggy, wet weather to get there. The blooms will be worth it.

So we can either complain about the weather all month long, or we can use it as an excuse to get some fantastic rain gear. Here are some the delightful options out there:

If color is the thing that moves you most, you won’t get much more of a boost than the Wells Waterproof Coat ($245 on us.boden.com), a color-blocked, gorgeous confection that’s fully waterproof. It has bright pops of bubble gum pink and periwinkle blue, sharp navy, and excellent details like cinch-able cuffs, and the taped seams keep you completely dry, even in a rainstorm.

And let’s look at what you’re stepping out in. Are you the tall-boot type? If so, then take a peek at the Pendleton Bridger Stripe Boots ($150 on freepeople.com). They’re puddle-friendly and ready for the elements, with sweet horizontal striping and waterproof rubber fabrication and a back zipper with textured soles. Wear them with knee-length socks for extra style points.

Or maybe you’d rather just do a quick pull-on with a short rainboot. The very classic, very yellow — in the color Calendula — Bolinas Off Shore Boot ($115 on seavees.com) mimics the classic attire of New England fishermen, but is also modern in so many ways. They come with a cushy memory foam footbed and are 100% waterproof, and have a darling little striped ribbon pull-on tab on back. And $1 from every pair sold is donated to Un Mar De Colores, a non-profit that promotes environmental stewardship.

You may be wondering how best to keep your head nice and dry. Check out the snazzy Faux Leather Rain Bucket Hat ($38 on villagehatshop.com). It comes in two deep colors — a steel gray or a dreamy red wine — and it has soft, lightweight lining that keeps you comfy and cozy on damp days.

And let’s not forget the umbrella. They can be a huge statement unto themselves, and I love it when they are. What a fun thing — to open up a big, beautiful design on an otherwise dreary day. So for that reason alone, I love the Fruittelicious Umbrella ($52 on farmrio.com). An absolute work of art, this extraordinary accessory with a unique silhouette sports a curved handle and wide canopy, with delicate ruffles along the edges.

And for those really rainy days, when you just need to cover up as much as possible — just pull on the Classic Tartan Showerproof Poncho ($60 on tnuck.com) by Barbour. Its attached hood has a signature tartan plaid, and its swingy cut with an asymmetrical hem and boxy fit continues the statement. Its polyester material means that it wipes clean when things get muddy. And no matter how sideways the wet winds blow, it all keeps you dry and looking good.
