The Patriots are hosting free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs on a visit, a source confirmed.
Diggs, 31, is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in October. The veteran wide receiver had posted six consecutive 1,000-yard seasons before last year’s season-ending injury.

If signed, Diggs would enter New England as the Patriots de facto No. 1 wide receiver, if healthy. The Patriots’ wide receiver corps consists of Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, JaQuae Jackson and John Jiles.
Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowl selection and one-time All-Pro, caught 47 passes for 496 yards with three touchdowns in eight games last season with the Texans. He has 857 career receptions for 10,491 yards with 70 touchdowns in 10 seasons with the Texans, Bills and Vikings.
The Patriots have signed one wide receiver in free agency, Mack Hollins. They struck out in their attempts to add Buccaneers wideout Chris Godwin and Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp. They never had a chance to acquire Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, who was franchised before signing a contract extension. Wide receiver DK Metcalf was also traded this offseason from the Seahawks to the Steelers.
The Athletic’s Chad Graff was first to report the visit.
