Suzuki Swift sales are up 44.5% year-on-year in February.

The South African new vehicle market confirms its recovery with February sales up a sturdy 7.3% year-on-year to 47,978 units. This brings the year-to-date tally up 9.5% to 94,968. Toyota (+1.9%) remains the faraway leader in the manufacturers charts but sees its share thaw slightly to 24.5% vs. 25.2% so far this year. Suzuki (+15.8%) continues to excel, ranking above the VW Group (-1.6%) for the second month running. Mahindra (+52.2%), Chery (+27.9%) and Hyundai (+22.4%) also excel below. As for recent launches, Omoda & Jaecoo stay at #14, Jetour falls to #17 and Foton appears at #22.

Toppled by the Suzuki Swift last month, the Toyota Hilux (-13.5%) reclaims its traditional pole position with 5.6% share despite a ghastly year-on-year drop. The Swift (+44.5%) however continues to soar year-on-year and ranks #2 year-to-date vs. #6 over the Full Year 2024. The VW Polo Vivo (+17.5%) stays in third place ahead of the Ford Ranger (-0.9%) and Isuzu D-Max (+10.6%) both up one spot on last month to close up the Top 5. The Suzuki Fronx (+223.6%) and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (+21.2%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10. The Toyota Starlet Cross is the best-selling recent launch, down one rank on January to #12.
