Austria February 2025: Audi Q8 inside Top 5, Renault 5 in Top 20
The Audi Q8 is up to a record 5th place in February.
19,619 new cars found a buyer in Austria in February, a -1.9% year-on-year drop. This way, the year-to-date tally is up 6.7% to 40,067 thanks to a splendid start of the year (January at +16.5%). Volkswagen (-5.2%) falls faster than the market but easily remains in the lead with 14.8% ahead of a strong Skoda (+13.5%). BMW (+7.8%) is back up to #3 but Audi (+52%) does even better at #4. Seat (-27.5%) is in freefall year-on-year but still sports a 5th place ahead of Dacia (-4.6%) and Mercedes (-12.2%) both down. Cupra (+137.9%) is the best performer in the Top 30 and advances 113.7% year-to-date to #8 vs. #15 over the Full Year 2024. Opel (+95.7%) posts a rare surge, with Renault (+43.4%) and Ford (+30.5%) also in great shape. BYD (+99.1%) doubles its sales year-on-year and ranks #16 ahead of such established brands as Kia, Mazda, Citroen and Nissan. Alfa Romeo jumps 101.3% to #24. Tesla sinks -70.1%.
Over in the models charts, the Skoda Octavia (-28.7%), VW Golf (-36.9%) and Seat Ibiza (-33.1%) all collapse but still manage to keep their grip on the ranking. The Dacia Sandero (+12.1%) stays at #4 while the Audi Q8 (+223.3%) breaks into the Austrian Top 5 for the first time in the nameplate’s history at #5. Excellent showing also by the Skoda Fabia (+67.3%) and BMW X3 (+71.1%). The Cupra Terramar brilliantly cracks the Top 10 for the first time at #9 while the BYD Seal (+215.9%) holds itself at #13 vs. #11 year-to-date. The Renault 5 breaks into the Top 20 for the first time at #18, just as the Tesla Model Y implodes -75.6%.
