Quick Test Drive: Mitsubishi Outlander
Today we take the Mitsubishi Outlander on a quick test drive in the island of Tasmania, Australia. Although classified as a compact SUV, the first impression when taking stock of the car’s exterior design and allure is that it’s massive. The spectacular front grille and its height of 1m75 plays a role too.
Stepping in, we are welcomed by an old-fashioned, analog instrument cluster. The turn on button is hidden behind the wheel and Apple Car Play didn’t work. Not many positives to list here! However there is a large storage compartment between the front 2 seats. All in all, the cabin is large enough but back seat space could be better given the size of the vehicle.
Let’s no start the car. The acceleration is good, the automatic gearbox is nicely staged with no revving up. It is however a bit sluggish despite a relatively contained weight at 2,110 kg. Annoyingly, the line departure alert is over sensitive and the drive is accompanied by a constant beeping. That’s all I have to say about the Outlander!
