Say it ain’t snow: Up to 4 inches predicted Friday for southern Minnesota
Snow? Yeah, it’s coming. And soon.
According to AccuWeather, a media company that provides weather forecasting services, snow will develop over west central Minnesota late Friday afternoon and expand south and east across the central and southern parts of the state throughout the night.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for areas generally south of Interstate 94 in Minnesota. The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
About 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in the advisory area, with some isolated areas getting up to 5 inches. Brisk northerly winds are expected to accompany the snow, which will likely result in reduced visibility and areas of blowing snow.
A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of the downfall will cause travel difficulties. Drivers can expect snow-covered roads and limited visibility and are encouraged to use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for Minnesota can be found at 511mn.org or by calling 511.
