TRACK AND FIELD: Litch boys top field at Paynesville meet; girls edged for first
The Litchfield boys and girls track and field teams saw some top individual finishes Tuesday at Paynesville.
The Dragons boys team took first place over New London-Spicer, while the girls team finished second by 1/3 of a point. ACGC also competed in the meet and finished fourth out of five teams in the boys standings and fifth in the girls standings.
Ben Ammermann continued his strong start to the season, winning the 800 and 1600 runs. He won the 800 by one second with a time of 2:11.24 and the 1600 by nine seconds with a time of 5:04.88.
Litch swept the top four spots in the 110 hurdles, led by Brenden Smith and Kole Bartlett.
The Dragons 4×100 relay posted a second-place finish with a time of 50.57. The 4×400 relay finished third, while the 4×200 and 4×800 placed fourth.
Isaac Barus finished second in the high jump with a height of 5-2, while Sergio Martinez and Mason Dietel finished second and third, respectively. in the long jump. Martinez also finished third in the 100 dash.
Josh Anderson placed first in the shot put with a distance of 44-9, and teammate Cody SmithGosen finished third. Landon Wagner, Dylan Isakson and Anderson placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the discus.
For the Litchfield girls, Vail Kaping won the 100 dash with a time of 13.95. Lilli Chvatel and Raina Kaping placed third and fourth, respectively, in the event. Senior Maddy Shoultz was also first-place finisher, taking the 100 hurdles by more than a second with a time of 17.62.
The Dragons’ 4×100 and 4×400 relays finished second, while the 4×200 and 4×800 relays placed third.
Emma Brown won the pole vault with a height of 7-6, Jocilyn Olson was second in the long jump and Lily Osterberg placed third in the triple jump.
Litchfield swept the top three spots in the shot put and the discus. Jadalyn Wagner, Colby Christensen and Sydney Jackman finished one-two-three in both events.
The ACGC boys team won the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:44.48, and Landon Blom won the high jump with a height of 5-4. Zackary Hinther finished runner-up in the 200 dash with a time of 25.36.
The Falcons’ girls team saw Jeana Denton finish fourth in both the 100 and 200 dash. Kera Sluka tied for third in the shot put and Taylor Bolton placed fourth in the discus.
