Gophers women’s basketball tops Louisiana to improve to 9-0
The Gophers women’s basketball team turned an early 9-0 lead into a 68-48 victory over Louisiana on Saturday in New Orleans to improve to 9-0 on the season.
Mallory Heyer scored 20 points, and Grace Grocholski added 14 points and six rebounds in Minnesota’s wire-to-wire victory. Tori McKinney had a game-high nine rebounds as the Gophers had a 43-36 edge on the boards, including 15 offensive rebounds.
Minnesota shot well from three-point range, making 10 of 25 long-range shots. The defense did the rest, forcing 13 turnovers and holding the Ragin’ Cajuns (3-3) to 32.7-percent shooting.
The Gophers next play host to North Florida on Tuesday at Williams Arena.
