Gophers football: Tight end recruit Cross Nimmo de-commits from the U

The size of the Gophers football program’s 2025 recruiting class decreased by one on Thursday.

Tight end Cross Nimmo, of Mentor, Ohio, re-opened his recruiting process. He gave a verbal commitment to the U in April and posted “ROW!” after Minnesota knocked off Southern California on Oct. 5.

“After careful consideration and talks with my family, I have decided to recommit from the University of Minnesota,” he posted on social media. “The decision was not made lightly as I have tremendous respect for the Minnesota coaching staff and team.”

Nimmo, a three-star recruit, was the Gophers only tight end pledge in next year’s class, creating a hole to be filled before signing day in December. Minnesota has 22 commitments in the 2024 class, which ranks 42nd in the nation, according to 247sports.com.
