Drake Maye not limited in Patriots practice despite knee injury

Drake Maye’s knee injury did not limit him in Thursday’s practice, according to the Patriots.

The rookie quarterback was listed as a full practice participant for the second consecutive day as New England prepared to travel to London for its Week 7 matchup with the Jaguars.

Maye showed no visible limitations during the period of practice that was open to reporters, and he did not appear to be wearing a brace. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday that he’s “not concerned” about the injury and doesn’t expect it to impact the QB’s availability for Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium.

“He looked good to me (on Wednesday),” Van Pelt said in a pre-practice news conference. “… We’ll see as we go on through the course of the week, but right now, I think it’s probably precautionary.”

Running back Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) and left tackle Vederian Lowe (ankle) both did not practice for the second straight day, putting their availability for Sunday in doubt.

Stevenson has not practiced or played since New England’s Week 5 loss to Miami. The Patriots struggled to run the ball without him last week, with Antonio Gibson, JaMycal Hasty and Terrell Jennings totaling just 44 yards on 21 carries. Maye (five carries, 38 yards) was their leading rusher in the loss.

With Lowe sidelined, Demontrey Jacobs could be the Patriots’ top option at left tackle after starting the last two games on the right side. Mike Onwenu has repped at both right guard and right tackle this week and could bump out to the latter on Sunday.

Cornerback/punt returner Marcus Jones returned to practice after missing Wednesday with a groin injury and illness. He was one of seven players listed as limited, along with safety Kyle Dugger, linebackers Sione Takitaki and Curtis Jacobs, corners Jonathan Jones and Marco Wilson, and guard Michael Jordan.

An additional eight players appeared on the injury report but were full participants: Maye, wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and K.J. Osborn, cornerback Isaiah Bolden, defensive tackle Davon Godchaux, linebacker Anfernee Jennings, safety Marte Mapu and long snapper Joe Cardona.

Bolden, Godchaux and Mapu all upped their participation after being listed as limited on Wednesday.

The Patriots are scheduled to hold their final Week 7 practice at the Harrow School in London on Friday.
