Our Top 10 Most Loved Rare Cars at the Concours of Elegance 2024

If you visit the site regularly or follow us on social media (go on), you’ll know that I post top 10 lists regularly. Most often, these top 10 lists feature our favourite cars from car shows. Here are some rare cars that I loved at the Concours of Elegance 2024. The cars highlighted in this top 10 are in order of those cars we most desire or would love to drive/ own. 1959 Ferrari Dino 196 S Spider

Wow. Just wow. Just look at it. Beautiful. The 1959 Ferrari Dino 196 S Spider is a rare and iconic racing car that combines striking design with superb engineering. Powered by a 2.0-litre V6 engine and weighing only 580 kg, it delivered impressive performance on the track. With its sleek body crafted by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, the Dino 196 S Spider became an enduring symbol of Ferrari’s dedication to beauty and performance. 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Speciale Aerodinamica

How cool is this? Wow. And what a colour. The colour is probably a love it of hate it thing, each to their own, but I like it. The 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Speciale Aerodinamica is a rare and unique car that combines the best of both worlds: the elegance and performance of the 250 GT family with the aerodynamic design of the Superfast series. Built in limited numbers, this car is highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts. Its history includes ownership by prominent figures like Luigi Chinetti and Robert Solomon. 1954 Lagonda DP115/2

I love this style of racing car, way more than the modern day racing cars. What about you? The 1954 Lagonda DP115/2 is a rare and historic racing car. It was developed to compete with Ferrari and Jaguar in the mid-1950s and featured a powerful 4.5-liter V12 engine. Despite facing technical challenges, the DP115/2 participated in several races, including the 1954 British Grand Prix support race. The car’s journey has included ownership by prominent figures and appearances in the film “Checkpoint.” After a lengthy restoration process, the DP115/2 was now on display at Hampton Court Palace, offering a glimpse into the golden age of British sports car racing. 1953 Jaguar C-Type

Such a cool and iconic British racing car.The 1953 Jaguar C-type is a legendary sports car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953. It featured a powerful engine, improved brakes, and a lightweight design. Driven by Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton, the C-type dominated the race, defeating Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. 1956 Jaguar D-Type

A car I’d love to blast around a track for sure. The 1956 Jaguar D-type is a legendary sports car that achieved great success in racing, particularly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This specific car, XKD 518, has a rich history, passing through the hands of several notable owners and participating in various racing events throughout its lifetime. 1939 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS by Pourtout

Wow. Just look at this stunning automotive artwork. The 1939 Talbot-Lago T150C SS by Pourtout is a rare and unique classic car. Designed by Georges Paulin, a pioneer of retractable hardtop technology, this car combines elegant styling with impressive performance. Despite its wartime production, the T150 C SS achieved notable success in racing, winning multiple events in the 1950s. 1957 Talbot-Lago T14 America Coupe

So so cool, What a lovely and sophisticated automobile. Elegance in abundance. The 1957 Talbot-Lago T14 America Coupe marked the final chapter for the French luxury carmaker before its acquisition by Simca in 1959. Based on the earlier T14 LS, the T14 America featured a BMW V8 engine and left-hand drive, aimed primarily at the US market. However, with only 12 units sold due to its high price, the car struggled to gain traction. One of these rare examples, car number 140057B, was delivered in November 1957 and remained in the same family until 2006. It was restored between 2007 and 2011 and has since changed ownership several times. 2016 Pagani Zonda Oliver Evolution ‘Hermès Edition’

I love everything about a Pagani, except the price of course. Although I do not think this Zonda is the most beautiful, I do think it a beast, and for that reason alone I want to drive it. The 2016 Pagani Zonda Oliver Evolution is a unique and highly customized hypercar. It features a powerful 7.4-liter V12 engine, specially developed aerodynamics, and a suspension setup fine-tuned for exceptional handling. The car’s exterior and interior were designed in collaboration with Hermès, resulting in a stunning and luxurious aesthetic. Named after the owner’s son, the Zonda Oliver is a testament to Pagani’s commitment to crafting extraordinary and personalized vehicles. Read more here.

1974 BMW E9 CSL ‘Batmobile’

So cool and an iconic car. I’d love to drive this car. The 1974 BMW E9 CSL “Batmobile” is a rare and iconic sports car. Developed as a lightweight performance variant of the E9, the CSL featured a stripped-down interior, powerful engine, and distinctive aerodynamic enhancements. This particular car, originally painted yellow and later restored to its original Chamonix white color, has a relatively low mileage and has been well-preserved. 1940 Aston Martin speed model Type C

A cool car. One I’d never seen before. No distinctive Aston Martin grill, but very cool nonetheless. The 1940 Aston Martin Speed Model Type C is a rare and historically significant sports car. Developed during the pre-World War II era, this model showcased Aston Martin’s commitment to performance and innovation. Despite the challenges of the war, the Type C demonstrated its capabilities on the road and in limited racing events. Known for its elegant design and exceptional performance, the Type 37 has a rich history, having been owned by several notable individuals and participating in various events throughout its lifetime.
