New Car Preview: 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

BMW continues its legacy of blending performance and style with the release of the second-generation 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. Set to debut in showrooms next year, the new Gran Coupe offers refreshed aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and notable upgrades to its performance capabilities.

Key Upgrades to the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

BMW has built the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe to be more than just a refresh. It’s a reimagining. The updates span the vehicle’s design, performance, and tech, elevating the experience for drivers looking for a premium compact sedan.

Exterior Design: The Gran Coupe sports a bolder, more aggressive look. It’s larger than its predecessor, standing 0.7 inches longer and 1.0 inch taller. The iconic Hofmeister kink now features a bold embossed number 2. The redesigned taillights and standard 18-inch wheels with optional 19-inch designs create a dynamic, sporty appearance.
Interior: The cabin showcases BMW’s new Curved Display powered by the BMW OS 9, combining luxury with advanced functionality. Expect a wireless charger, new gear selector, and a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system as standard features. The new perforated Veganza material and heated sport seats add comfort and a premium feel, while the massaging front seats bring an added layer of luxury, a first for the Gran Coupe.

Under the hood, the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe features an enhanced 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Available in both 228 sDrive and xDrive variants, it delivers 241 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque. For those craving more, the M235 xDrive offers a boost to 312 horsepower. Despite this power increase, the torque drops slightly from last year’s 332 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft.

Acceleration: The 228 xDrive hits 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, shaving off 0.2 seconds from the previous model. The M235 achieves the sprint in 4.7 seconds, a fraction slower than last year’s model.
Transmission: BMW replaces the traditional eight-speed automatic with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This transmission is available with an M Sport Boost function, offering the driver instant acceleration by pulling the left paddle for one second.

BMW refined the 2025 Gran Coupe’s suspension with a 20% increase in caster offset, improving both comfort and handling. The M Adaptive Suspension is standard, allowing for real-time adjustments to road conditions. Drivers can also opt for a traditional suspension setup at no additional cost.

Pricing and Availability

The second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe will enter production later this year at BMW’s Leipzig factory in Germany. The 228 xDrive and M235 xDrive will hit U.S. showrooms in March 2025, followed by the 228 sDrive in mid-2025.

The base 228 sDrive starts at $40,775, with the M235 xDrive topping out at $50,675. Prices include BMW’s increased destination fee of $1,175, up from last year’s $995.

With its increased power, refined handling, and updated interior tech, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe promises a thrilling and luxurious driving experience. Whether you’re looking for a daily driver with upscale features or a sporty sedan with an edge, the new Gran Coupe should be on your radar.
