Patriots rule out running back Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Texans

Takitaki, who was signed in free agency after he spent five seasons with the Browns, injured his knee during the spring and spent all of training camp on the PUP list. Defensive assistants have praised his ability to play off-ball linebacker and on the edge. He could help fill the void left by Ja’Whaun Bentley, who was placed on injured reserve after Week 2.

Jennings will serve as the Patriots’ No. 3 option at running back behind Antonio Gibson and JaMycal Hasty with Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) out.

Patriots stop long snapper Joe Cardona is dealing with a calf injury, leading the team to elevate Addington, who was just signed to the practice squad Friday.

The Patriots did not elevate a center, meaning their options at that position are Nick Leverett and Ben Brown. Brown was signed off the Raiders’ practice squad this week. He took a red-eye flight from Las Vegas on Wednesday night and got in two practices on Thursday and Friday.
