The Patriots and special-teams ace Brenden Schooler agreed to a three-year, $9 million contract extension, per sources.

Schooler’s new deal, which runs through the 2027 season, is worth up to $10.5 million, according to multiple sources.

Schooler has taken over retired All-Pro Matthew Slater’s mantle as the Patriots’ best special teams player. He blocked a punt in the Patriots’ Week 5 loss to the Dolphins. He also blocked a field goal last season against the Dolphins.

The 27-year-old, who went undrafted out of Texans in 2022, has 32 tackles and four fumble recoveries in 38 career games. He was named a first-team NFLPA All-Pro in 2023 and was named the Patriots’ the 2024 Burton Community Service Award winner.

The Patriots’ special teams has been a bright spot under new head coach Jerod Mayo and special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer.

“School is his own coach, at the end of the day,” Springer said Friday. “Him, Slater, Coach (Tom) Quinn, they do such a great job with Schooler, and Schooler does such a great job with himself throughout the week that he puts himself in those positions.”
