The Ford Explorer EV is an instant blockbuster in Denmark.

15,567 new cars hit Danish roads in September, a 4.6% year-on-year improvement. As a result the year-to-date tally is up 1.8% to 126,255. Volkswagen (+79.4%) surges ahead to confirm its YTD top spot, outselling Tesla (-23.4%) which started from a particularly high year-ago performance. Skoda (+85.5%) and Mercedes (+39.7%) also both stand out, as do Toyota (+27.9%), BMW (+11.6%) and Nissan (+71.8%) in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Renault (+118.4%), Xpeng (+944.8%) and BYD (+605.1%) impress, Xpeng hitting a new ranking record at #14 with 1.9% share. 

The Tesla Model Y (-49.3%) is back to the pole position it holds year-to-date despite losing half of its year-ago volume. It holds 7.8% share vs. 5.8% so far this year. Leader for the first time last month, the Skoda Enyaq (+228.8%) lodges another outstanding score but stays #5 year-to-date, the same ranking as over the Full Year 2023. The Tesla Model 3 (+4464.3%) climbs to #3 and ranks #2 year-to-date, giving Tesla a 1-2. Excellent performance also for the VW ID.4 (+237.7%), making the Top 4 100% EVs. Below the Nissan Qashqai (+81.9%), the new Ford Explorer, with the new generation exclusively available as EV, is up 26 spots on August to #6. The VW ID.3 (+211.8%), Audi Q4 e-tron (+105.5%) and Mercedes EQA (+144.6%) also more than double their year-ago sales further down. This means there are 8 EVs in the Top 9, with the Qashqai being the only odd one out.
