Massachusetts inmate escapes, Department of Corrections asks for public’s help

An inmate escaped a state prison in Norfolk, walking away from the minimum-security facility.

The Massachusetts Department of Correction is seeking help finding Kevin O’Brien, a 72-year-old inmate at Pondville Correctional Center. He was last seen on the grounds of the facility at around 9:30 this morning.

The agency is asking the public to call 911 if they see him and to not approach him.

Correction officers noticed the inmate, who is serving a sentence for stealing a car, had not returned by 11 a.m., so they went to security footage recordings and say they saw him leave the track area and walk into the nearby woods at around 10 a.m., according to the DOC.

The DOC says O’Brien was last seen wearing blue jeans and a crewneck sweatshirt with a navy ball cap and windbreaker. He is 5-foot-7 and weighs about 160 pounds. He has blue eyes and a fringe of gray hair.
